It should also be easy to get up from without needing to pull yourself up by the arms — When you're sitting on it, there should be no pressure points or awkward angles that make it difficult to remain in place. 2. Duraburity You can usually tell how durable something is by looking at its construction. If it's made of wood and wood joints, not pressed wood glued together like most furniture these days, then it's probably more durable than something made entirely out of plastic. Look for joints that are reinforced with metal or screws instead of just being held together with glue or nails. You can also tell how well-made something is by its weight — heavier objects tend to be sturdier than lighter ones (though this isn't always true). In general, you get what you pay for; if you buy cheap furniture, it will most likely break after a few years and need replacing sooner than its better-built counterparts would have needed replacing under similar conditions. 3. Size The size of your room and the dimensions. If you live in an apartment or condo where space is limited, try choosing a sofa with no arms so that it doesn't take up too much room. If you have plenty of space around the walls in your home office or family room where you intend on placing the new furniture piece then choose one with arms so that it can provide extra seating when needed during those big family gatherings or parties with friends over.
